Apprenticeships for learners.

Apprenticeships are not just for school leavers seeking their first job; they also play a crucial role in equipping individuals already in the workforce with the essential skills and practical experience needed to upskill and thrive in their profession

Off-the-job training encompasses:

  • Paid employment with holiday entitlement
  • Hands-on experience
  • Minimum of 6 hours of off-the-job training weekly
  • Formal assessment leading to a recognised qualification

Off-the-job training is conducted by subject matter experts and may involve theoretical instruction like classroom sessions, lectures, and online learning, as well as practical training such as shadowing, mentoring, industry visits, and learning support. Additionally, apprentices are given plenty of time to complete assignments.

This comprehensive approach ensures the delivery of high-quality training, enabling individuals to advance in their chosen field.

To start an apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 16 or above
  • Residing in England
  • Not engaged in full-time education

You can begin the application process for an apprenticeship while still in school, but you must be at least 16 years old by the end of the summer holidays to commence the course.
